“Tactical Edge uses a common sense conceptual approach to learning how to stay safe and get fit.”

WHAT IS TACTICAL EDGE

Tactical Edge is leading the way in reality based martial arts.  A system originally designed for use by UK Special Forces it has now evolved and expanded into a full civilian syllabus for use by people to gain confidence in dealing with the threat of violence.

WHO IS IT FOR?

The system can be learned by anyone over the age of 16.  It’s not “a one size fits all” system and is tailored to the individuals needs. We are all different so the system and instructors take this into account and find what works best for you.

WHY DO I NEED TO LEARN THIS?

Threats of everyday violence are on the increase. This is clear from reading a newspaper or watching television.  Most of these incidents can be avoided with some common sense measures which we can teach you.  The physical skills allow us the tools to complete a job if we are forced to make a physical response.

WHAT DO YOU LEARN?

From your first session you will have learned new skills that you can apply the moment you leave the class.  You learn how to defend against the most common attacks at the beginning of your training and then as you quickly progress you will look to learn more challenging material normally reserved for higher grade martial artists.  You will cover how to defend against all types of weapons and also learn how to employ these to your advantage. A large part of the curriculum is devoted to learning how to use every day common objects in your favour should you be attacked.  An example of this would be a flashlight. These are commonly carried by police officers and provide a less than lethal approach in self defence.  If you can learn to use a flashlight as an impact tool then anything you pick up that can take impact can be employed.

WHAT SKILLS, ABILITIES DO YOU NEED TO LEARN TACTICAL EDGE?

All you need to learn is some basic common sense. You are taught a movement and it can apply to any number of attacks. We tend to teach concepts rather than a separate technique for each attack.  That way we can learn quickly and we don’t have to think too much under the stress of an attack.
